Milton is located just outside of Boston between the Neponset River and Blue Hills. The affluent suburb of Boston has been voted as one of the top “Best Places to Live” by Money Magazine in 2007, 2009 and 2011.
Historically, a powder mill was created to leverage the town’s water power. Investors made Milton an industrial site by creating saw mills, paper mills and iron slating mils. Eventually, New England’s first chocolate factory, The Walter Baker Chocolate Factory, was created from a converted grist mill. By the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, the area was flourishing. By 1930, many of the larger estates were converted into subdivisions while population growth continued.
Today, Milton is highly sought after by many who wish to live near Boston but still have a suburban setting. Residents benefit from many public, private and prep schools in the area. Other highlights include close proximity to Blue Hills Reservation, the Neponset River Greenway and easy access to Route 93.
